1. The Core Mechanical Rule

• The Anchor (Fixed Plenum): The Net Mesh Filter (34x1 mm has a permanent fixed home position at the bottom of the main filter stack underneath the puck. It provides that crucial 1mm plenum space for the espresso output flow.
• The Split Selection (Above the Puck): From whatever filters are left over in a given kit, you pick the single lightest/thinnest option to serve as the Water Filter (dispersion/separation layer) resting right on top of the coffee puck.
• The Lower Stack (Below the Puck): All remaining filters are piled into a stack directly on top of that fixed 34x1mm bottom net mesh. They follow a strict weight/thickness gradient: thickest/heaviest at the bottom, graduating to the lighter/thinner ones on top as you build up toward the base of the puck. Total stack filters, above the plenum filter, you can put 1, 2, or 3 filters in the stack. In general, no more than 3 is needed.

In this specific diagram setup above, the components are allocated like it should be:

• Above the Puck: Woven Sintered Filter ($35 \times 2\text{ mm}$) — selected because it's the thinnest remaining option.
• The Coffee Puck sits in the middle.
