Key Insights
- Most real-world shots are “slightly off”, maybe 90% of all shots 9Barista produces ~9 bar, but flow can be too fast for ideal extraction. Taste may vary slightly due to puck imperfections. The puck resistance is the real factor determines the pressure. S01B-9Bar allows user to adjust flow, making slightly off shots more recoverable.
- Puck imperfection and then Channeling is inevitable 9Barista: preserved and amplified. The thin layer of the basket with holes mean channels are finding their chance and may dominate the extraction if they exist. In a deeper view, some levels of micro channel is always there. S01B-9Bar: 3D filter stack breaks and redistributes channels → reduces impact on final cup. In the deeper view, even if a micro channel is there in the puck but then when the water stream meets the thick layer of filter caves of steel caves of labyrinth, it would only be diverted and back-pressured to reduce the streaming channel.
- Extreme cases matter Too fine grind → 9Barista risks valve cycling, higher tendency in unstable extraction, bitter or harsh spots, or the worst choking with a very slow flow rate. Fix: Still need to redo. Use more coarser grinds. Too fine grind → S01B-9Bar: user intervention slows extraction, reduces channel growth → somewhat safer, more balanced cup. For the worst case, it is choking. The result would be the same as that in the 9Barista. Fix: Still need to redo, use coarser grinds.
- Thermal stability vs human adaptability 9Barista wins in repeatable temperature/pressure control. S01B-9Bar wins in forgiving adaptability when preparation is imperfect, with human-in-the-loop correction. More stability, more often in making a good flavor cup.
